Power Rangers Review

(Poster Source: Wikipedia ) In yet another attempt in the continuous effort to cash in on nostalgia, Hollywood (specifically the YA-fiction-loving studio that is Lionsgate) has chosen a new franchise to bring back to the market: Power Rangers . While I may not have grown up with the franchise in quite the same way as other people — I only saw a handful of episodes growing up — I recognize the fans that the cheesy, over-the-top, yet oh-so-entertaining TV shows had. Parents can say whatever they want about its “controversial” level of martial arts violence, but it’s still impossible to deny that many 90s kids enjoyed watching this in their youth. Fast forward over 20 years to 2017, and adults (myself included) who were born around that time period have been — and will continue to be — bombarded by reboots, remakes, spin-offs, and sequels that attempt to resurrect the favorite properties of yesteryear. As I mentioned above, Lionsgate’s reboot of Power Rangers is the latest...

Top Movie News of the Week: March 20 - 26

This is a feature in which I shall be highlighting the biggest articles of movie news – at least in my opinion – from the previous week. It can sometimes be difficult to catch up with the news when so much of it is constantly being shuffled around the Internet; therefore, my hope is that my efforts to find such entertainment-related developments will prove fruitful to my dedicated readers . #7 – Terminator Genisys will not be getting a sequel. New York Daily News delivered this quote as they shared news from their correspondent source: “It is over for The Terminator and Arnold. The studio...

(Poster Source: Wikipedia ) It has been a long and satisfying past 17 years for the Wolverine. Despite the fact that not every single X-Men film has been quality cinema, one thing has always rung true about this long-running franchise: Hugh Jackman’s Logan is one of the most beloved portrayals of a comic book character of all-time. Thus, like many other fans of this series, it is sad to think that Logan marks his (supposed) final performance as the character. Had the X-Men been included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe , perhaps that wouldn’t have been the case; alas, Jackman has decided to move on to bigger and better things, despite whatever amount of fun he likely had in this role over the years. The buzz over the last film starring Hugh Jackman’s version of the character has been very high as a result, and from what I’ve heard through word of mouth, the result did not disappoint. With that, I went into Logan hoping it would be a fitting conclusion to the Wolveri...
