Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Review

Image
The third and final installment of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Revenge of the Sith , was released in theaters on May 19, 2005. Just like with Episodes I and II , Star Wars creator George Lucas wrote and directed this film. Lucasfilm produced the film, with 20th Century Fox acting as the distributor. Disney now has ownership over the movie. IMDB reports the synopsis of the show as such: “Three years into the Clone Wars, the Jedi rescue Palpatine from Count Dooku. As Obi-Wan pursues a new threat, Anakin acts as a double agent between the Jedi Council and Palpatine and is lured into a sinister plan to rule the galaxy.” I’m not even gonna try to do a written summary of this video since it is so long. With that, you can just refer to the above video as a podcast. We go in-depth with spoilers for Revenge of the Sith , so if you haven’t seen it, do not watch the video until you have done so.

Retro Movie Minute #20: Aliens

Image
The Retro Movie Minute feature is a series on my YouTube channel in which I briefly share my thoughts on an older film (to catch up with all other installments of this series, click here ). Regardless of whether or not I had seen it previously, my general rule of thumb here will be that I report on something I had seen in theaters. I will also make exceptions for older films played in special events or if I am seeing some movie(s) in preparation for a new release that is somehow related. Thank you for reading/watching! Aliens , the sequel to Ridley Scott’s groundbreaking sci-fi horror film Alien , was released in theaters on July 18, 1986. James Cameron directed the movie from a screenplay he wrote, based on a story he had developed alongside David Giler and Walter Hill. IMDb reports the synopsis of the show as such: “Ellen Ripley is rescued by a deep salvage team after being in hypersleep for 57 years. The moon that the Nostromo visited has been colonized, but cont...

Top 10 Superhero Movies

Image
Avengers: Endgame is quite possibly the most anticipated movie in history. Literally 21 other movies have been building up to this culmination of the long-running story, and there is much hype surrounding whether or not it will be a satisfying conclusion to the currently relevant character arcs. Additionally, many wonder if it will join the ranks as one of the all-time great superhero films. Prior to me getting proof of this, however, I wanted to share what I consider to be the ten best superhero movies of all-time. Bear in mind that I had one rule going into making this list, though: only one film from a single series could qualify. The MCU was a curious thing to set parameters on, for multiple series exist within the overall franchise. For that, I ruled that more than one MCU film could make an appearance, but only one from a certain series. For example, I really appreciate both Guardians of the Galaxy films, but only one could have qualified, so I would have personally ...

Some Quick Thoughts on the Star Wars Celebration Announcements

Image
I don’t have much to write at all for this post, considering that most of what I said was reactionary to the various major panels hosted at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago this past week. My main goal with the video was to share quick thoughts on four separate upcoming Star Wars media projects. In total, the video has a timecode 7:15. If you would rather hear me talk about specific ones rather than the entire video, though, refer to the legend below: The Rise of Skywalker (Episode IX) = 1:36 - 3:41 Jedi Fallen Order = 3:55 - 4:52 The Mandalorian = 4:58 - 5:51 The Clone Wars (Season 7) = 5:59 - 6:41 Feel free to share what your thoughts on all of these things are too, for it sure is a great time to be a Star Wars fan!

Pet Sematary (2019) Review

Image
The second film adaptation of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary was released in theaters on April 5, 2019. Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer directed this film from material developed by Jeff Buhler and Matt Greenberg, which is based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King. Di Bonaventura Pictures produced the film, with Paramount acting as the distributor. IMDb reports the synopsis of the show as such: “Dr. Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discover a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home.” My full thoughts can be found in the video above, which has a timecode of 6:55. If you would prefer a shorter version of my thoughts, read on. Pet Sematary was never a story I was fully familiar with, so even though I had the opportunity to watch the original film first, I opted out of doing so. Personally, I preferred to go into the remake as blind and unbiased ...

All the Movies I Saw in March 2019

Image
Welcome to another recap of all the movies I saw in a given month! This time, March 2019 was on the line. To be quite honest with you, this past month was rather awful for movies. There were a few gems that I will share hereafter, but mostly, what we got were disappointments, misfires, and completely bad movies altogether. The mediocre definitely outweighed those movies of quality this time around, much to my personal dismay. Yet, some of those movies which did receive good reviews are ones I sadly missed out on — Gloria Bell , The Mustang , and Dragged Across Concrete — so what do I really know? Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy my rankings for this month. If you’d prefer to watch the video, the embedded clip has a timecode of 8:51. Otherwise, please read on! 13 — Captive State In what is possibly the most disappointing movie of 2019 thus far, Captive State fully encapsulates what it means to squander potential. Given the fascinating premise, solid cast, and talente...
