What Happened to the Monthly Giveaways?

Image
For the better part of 2017, I was pretty consistent in giving back to the people who have so graciously followed my blog for the past few years. For the longest time I wanted to find a way to express my gratitude to people for reading my content, and I found joy in being able to host a monthly giveaway. The prizes changed up every month, and it seemed to make a lot of people happy. But then finances got tighter for me earlier this year, along with the fact that my schoolwork somewhat inhibited me from being dedicated to the blog for a little while. As such, I unfortunately fell out of the habit of hosting monthly giveaways. Believe me, I haven’t forgotten about you guys. I feel guilty about not being able to give back for what I have received from you. I hope you all understand that life just got extremely busy for me between March and April, so much so that I hardly had time for myself between my two jobs and finishing up a heavy school semester. One can only wonder if a sim...

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Review

(Poster Source: IMDb) In my efforts to review as many movies as possible on this blog, it has never been my goal to single out any one person. With all of the hatred that is spread across the world these days — especially through the toxic society that is the Internet — an unhealthy practice is to add more negativity to that mix. It’s something that people just don’t need. But when it comes to things like commenting on cinema, it can be easy to project hatred onto someone or something that messes with one’s nostalgic connection to popular art. Rian Johnson and Kelly Marie Tran certainly have gotten plenty of heat in that regard over the past several months, and they don’t deserve it. Regardless of the quality of the work they produce, no person deserves inhumane treatment from those who should just be offering up their fair critical judgments on a creative work. I preface my review this way for a reason, for I don’t want it to be a personal attack against anybody in part...

The Incredibles vs. Incredibles 2

14 years have been too long to wait for the second installment of Pixar’s superhero classic. In all the time that has passed since Brad Bird and company revealed their outstanding film to the world, the only one to have topped it has been Christopher Nolan with The Dark Knight . Yes, I am claiming that not a single entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has surpassed what Pixar achieved back in November 2004. However, I can only imagine how much this would have pressured Brad Bird in the years to come. Despite the demand for a sequel to The Incredibles , I’m sure he would have equated the prospect of following up that film like delivering something along the lines of The Empire Strikes Back , The Godfather Part II , or to reference Pixar again, the two Toy Story sequels. That pressure certainly would have increased upon Bird’s realization that the superhero genre has come a long way since he single-handedly revolutionized it. But thankfully, Brad Bird pulled through. A script w...
