Davenport Week #20: Progress

This week was one of great miracles for Elder Gray and I! First of all, I am pleased to let you know that Dawn and her kids have accepted a baptismal date! For now the projected date is in July, but they still want to receive that personal revelation for themselves before they make a truly solid commitment. Even so, they are all enjoying Church and the things they have been learning as well. It was truly a miracle that we were able to find them last transfer, so we are so excited for where their spiritual journey takes them.

Oh yes, I have a street.

For much of our time together, Elder Gray and I have been working hard to build up our teaching pool through much finding. Now that we have been following-up with everyone along with continual finding, we are beginning to weed out those who are truly interested and who aren't. As a result of this, we have three solid new investigators named Tela, Kel and Louis! All three have shown a surprising interest in learning more about the Church, so we were certainly blessed in being led to them. We will do all that we can to help them understand the divinity and reality of the great message of the Restored Gospel, for they have truly been prepared to receive it.

Otherwise, this week has been good for a number of other reasons. The first is that we had our monthly Zone P-day in Moline, Illinois; we had it this early in the month since the Davenport church building was closed for painting. It was a lot of fun between the volleyball, basketball and other games we played together. We also all got together again for the monthly Zone Training Meeting on Thursday, in which we were taught about the great importance of conversion, integrity and Church tours. It was interesting when Elder Brown trained on integrity since he defined it as "integrating" your righteous thoughts, words and deeds together as best as you can. I had never thought of it that way, so his training certainly gave me a lot of food for thought. It's true though, all of those things must be integrated together to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ.

Elder Brown tends to get very maniacal when cutting other people's hair.

The other thing is that on Saturday, Elder Gray and I helped the ward do some yard work at the church building. Much of what was done was weeding, removing rotting plants and trimming bushes so that the patches of soil surrounding the building could be mulched. It was a lot of fun, especially since the service we rendered reminded me of the lawn work I did back home.

Figured you would all like to see what my new Zone Leader Elder Weilenmann looks like. And, I guess, Elder Gray looking like he is about to crap his pants.

Oh yeah, and yesterday I had my 5th click day! One more month and I will have finished a 1/4 of my mission!

Scripture of the Week: 1 Corinthians 13:11 (For all who are about to graduate high school, listen to Paul's counsel. This is a time in your life when you will be making big changes that will forever change your life, so do all that you can to be responsible and do what is right.)

Missionary Advice: This is more for just missionaries in the field. Our mission is using something called the 20x3 Study Pattern. Basically, your companion study is split into three 20 minute periods: the first being when you share your insights from personal study, then study Preach My Gospel, and then role-play. You should try it, this pattern really helps.

I hope you all have a wonderful week! Be a righteous example to all you come in contact with!
